The Trend of Naked Young Women

I was at the mall when a gaggle of sixteen year old girls swarmed by in their overdyed hair, heavy makeup, and pushup bras. A few women around me tutted at the near nudity of these young women and how young ladies dress these days. It brought to mind two of my most favourite fashion quotes:

“Her bosom, which nature planted at the bottom of her chest, is pushed up by means of wadding and whalebone to the station so near to her chin that in a very full subject that feature is sometimes lost between the invading mounds.” (The Morning Herald, 1790)

“If the present fashion of nudity continues its career, the Milliners must give way to the Carvers, and the most elegant fig leaves will soon be all the mode. The fashion for false bosoms has at least this utility, that it compels are fashionable fair to wear something.” (The Times, London 1804)

I always find it amusing just how long the world’s been going downhill and how soom it must end because it cannot get worse.

Yup! Every generation complains about the previous one.

And the newer generation too. Kids and their newfangled Sodom, hula hoops, and Dan Folgerberg records.

It actually worries me deeply how kids and teens dress or rather lack of these days. Often times in summer I see eight year olds wearing bikinis at Walmart. I mean WTH?

There will be plenty of time for that dressing as adults. Kids especially should wear proper clothes. At least a t shirt and shorts.

I worry that the way they dress might be sending the wrong message to the guys out there especially.

What scares me most though is the fact that twelve year olds are starting or in relationships. They are way too young for that stuff.

If men are getting the “wrong message” by what a woman wears, then they need to be taught different messages.

I’m 36. I had a few friends who had relationships at 12 (I use the term lightly). I know a few who were having sex by 15. They all survived without needing expensive therapy.

But Kitty’s comment confirms what I was trying to say in my post: every generation complains about how the new one dresses.

    I blame the bustle.

Though it did mean a lady really could hide junk in her trunk.

Don’t you know, the past was always better… :D But it seems we always complain about the exact same things.

I just love how people were complaining about women’s breasts touching their chins. How many times has someone complained about push up bras these days?

Perhaps it is a young woman thing…wanting to push fashion boundaries.
