Road to Hell audiobook!
I’m very excited to announce that my audiobook of ROAD TO HELL released with Iambik Audiobooks today! I love audiobooks, so I admit I was nervous about hearing my own work read. What if I didn’t like it? What if it didn’t sound the way my brain said it should? Well, it turned out fantastic! I got to listen to the final audio last week to proof it, and was struck with the great job the narrator did. After having read that manuscript so many times, it was rather stranger hearing it for the first time. Audible and iTunes links...

Patrice held the names of two members in other terrorist cells. She’d been their only link in case of capture. Torturing the other five, including himself, would only get them the members of their group. Patrice could expose two other operatives and, in doing so, expose another sixty people to Corps Intelligence. He could handle being tortured. He could not handle...
read moreEternally Jane: A Short Story
I have a new short story out today – Eternally Jane. Lady Francis Millington rushes to Chawton after receiving a startling letter about the declining health of her dear friend, Miss Jane Austen. She is in possession of the one thing that can cure her friend. The question is, will Francis have to force it upon Jane, or will she drink the blood of eternal life willing? If you notice, it’s by a new pen name of mine: John Reynolds. John will be my Regency non-HFN/HEA/romance pen name. I wanted a pen name specifically for Regency...

Last night, I did a book reading for Ride the Moon’s Edmonton book launch. In atypical writer style, I arrived showered, well-dressed, and sober. I know, I give authors bad names. One of the best thing about book launch parties is, quite frankly, the cake. In particular, the book cover cake. There’s something about eating the symbol of your literary work that is rather satisfying. Or, more likely, it was that I forgot to eat lunch, it was 5pm, and the cake was really, really yummy. Either way. In two weeks, I’m attending...
read moreGlobal Paranormal?
I enjoy a good urban fantasy. They are a nice break from the intense epic fantasy worlds, or the expansive science fiction adventures. There’s one thing that bugs me about paranormal novels, though: they are almost always set in US cities. It isn’t that I don’t appreciate Harry Dresden’s Chicago because I do. However, I want to read about ghosts, spirits, demons, and vampires in different places – Toronto, London (both Ontario and England), Sydney, Johannesburg, and plenty of other places. It’s the reason I...

My epic fantasy novel, Tranquility’s Blaze, comes out April 17th (eeek!). Here is the inside map because epic fantasy isn’t epic fantasy without a map inside!
read moreRide the Moon: New anthology!
I’m really excited to announce that the anthology, RIDE THE MOON, is out! It’s really not out until next week, but bah, Amazon posted it early so darn it I’m letting you know It’s different from most SF&F anthologies, because it takes on a much more literary tone. It’s smart, witty, and filled with lots of deep thought and death. (My story contributes to the last one, obviously…I’m know for my death scenes, not my deep thought ones). Anyway, to give you a little taste, here’s the opener...

CHAPTER 2a Sen Marcik stretched out on the cold, metal floor of his six-by-six prison and waited for death. He and his cadre had been captured after attempting to steal a stealth communications jumper. With it, his entire resistance cell could have sent encrypted messages. The Corps would eventually have unscrambled the custom code, but by then they would have just moved on to other form of communication. The...

She’d not slept with her light off in seven years, but it had been some time since the nightmare had haunted her waking moments. But the last few days, her mind wandered. She could see the faces of her family as they were escorted into the transport trucks to move them to “safety.” Were they still alive? Did they stay and fight? Of...
